Almost. I'm going to drop into first-person mode here to reflect upon 365 days of non-stop blogging, and the previous year...
I started this blog because I was starting to feel like a laggard. I had recently checked out various blogging tools for the company so what better time to actually start my own personal blog. I was inspired by some of the blogs I was already reading on a regular basis: ~stevenf, carpeaqua, Mike Downey, How to Change the World, and a few others I'm forgetting. (Blogs tend to lose a bit of personality when filtered through an RSS reader.) My blog is somewhat boring by comparison, but "readership" continues to grow according to Google Analytics so maybe it's not too mundane.
It didn't take long to realize that every post should include a picture. The jury is still out on which narrative point of view works best. Some say first-person is pretentious, but personal blogs are a bit egotistical by nature. My excuse is that writing a post a day keeps the my mind frosty. I'll also be able to turn my blog into a book should I ever become nostalgic someday.
Last year was interesting. Apple launched Intel-based Macs and totally kicked ass. Democrats also kicked ass and won back Congress. Web 2.0 launches from prior years totally took off, to use a tacky metaphor. It was fun to watch the proliferation of innovation outside. This may very well be the year when I don't settle any longer for being just a spectator.
