D5 was the catalyst for a flurry of cool announcements from Apple, Microsoft (yes, MS actually made something cool!),
Palm, and Google.
Apple made good on bringing DRM-free, 256 kbps songs to iTunes. They also consolidated all of the free iTunes U[niversity] content. Wall Street liked YouTube on Apple TV the most.
Microsoft took Steve Jobs' advice and may have finally found a way to innovate their way out of stagnation. Technology like Surface is going to be pretty awesome once it becomes ubiquitous.
Poor Palm. Perhaps they can use the Linux-based Foleo OS on a future Treo.
Google Street View is cool. Google Gears also looks promising for Apollo.
Yep, it's definitely time to work on something cool too...
