Qore

Veronica BelmontDownloaded Quorn Qore, Sony's attempt to get some Xbox LIVE money with an optional annual subscription service. In Qore's case, it's a monthly "show" hosted by Veronica Belmont who's somewhat reminiscent of Erica Hill during her TechTV days. The first episode includes ads (most can be skipped), intel on SOCOM: U.S. Navy SEALS Confrontation, Soul Calibur IV (with playable Darth Vader?!), Afro Samurai (the game), Secret Agent Clank, Star Wars: The Force Unleashed, and more ads. PS3 Fanboy has a visual breakdown.

Hard core (heh) gamers who opt to drop $25 for an entire year of Qore up front will get access to the beta for SOCOM once it's available. The yearly dealio also includes the full version of Calling All Cars, a $10 value. Paying for 12 months up front makes sense given that monthly episodes are $3 ala carte sans perks. The only other nit—besides the ads—so far is that Qore wasn't smart enough to work with the PS3 remote, which is Controller 7 by default. Had to switch it to Controller 1.
