Been using iPhone 2.1 Software Update on the iPhone 3G for over a week now. Apple delivers on their claim of "Significantly better battery life for most users." It's now possible to leave 3G on all of the time, and still have plenty of power left at the end of the day. The 2.1 update also acquires and holds onto a 3G signal better, and more seamlessly switches between 3G and EDGE if needed. Apps install faster (with the exception of a couple of large games), and app icons now remember their Home screen positions. The only noticeable glitch is that apps still don't want to update via iTunes 8, but this is more of an issue with iTunes than iPhone. The new Genius feature in iTunes 8 and iPhone 2.1 is really great by the way!
