Sony cut the price and pounds from the PlayStation 3 today at gamescon 2009. The new PS3 sports a smaller, more Spartan enclosure that no doubt helps Sony hit the $299 price point. It'll be interesting to see if Microsoft will respond with Xbox 360 price cuts of their own, or if Redmond's strategy of selling a stripped down unit
for a hundred dollars less will enable them to maintain their lead over Tokyo. An extra Benjamin buys a Blu-ray player, and twice as much hard drive space over a similarly priced 360.
It's the PS3 Sony should have introduced in the first place! Of course, this gamer would still need both systems since the Halo franchise is exclusive to Xbox.
