AT&T Mark the Spot is an app that cynics and competitors will claim is a sign of weakness by the wireless company. The reality is that AT&T is making a previously internal tool available to customers in order to help them prioritize trouble areas. It turns all iPhone users into the equivalent of the "Can you hear me now?" guy, which will hopefully help AT&T improve their service. Indeed, coverage and audio fidelity in the South Bay has been noticeably better, as AT&T continues to reallocate their 850 MHz bandwidth in the region to 3G.
